PS CS6 Merge to HDR Pro is sprinkling images with "black pepper" spots

Problem only appears when using the Remove Ghosts function. Appears as thousands of tiny black specs. A few white specs as well. For example, a seven exposure series, with one-stop exposure differences. If I select the EV Minus 2.96 image as "primary", it is very bad. The problem progressively improves as I select "brighter" primary exposures. Selecting EV Zero still shows some artifacts. If I select EV Plus 2.96, the problem is gone.

It shows up in some parts of the image, but not all. If I do not select Remove Ghosts, there is no problem. I am sending these from Lightroom 5.6 to PS CS6.0.6. I am sending them with sharpening and all noise reduction set to zero. Only setting is "remove chromatic aberration" on all source images. These are raw files from a Canon 5DIII, Mac running 10.8.5. Any ideas?
