Transitions not effected by overlay

First time posting for help so hopefully I'm explaining this correctly!

I have a sequence of clips with transitions, (mostly cross dissolve), which is o.k. However, I now want to add an adjustment layer above this to color correct and add a vignette to the whole sequence. This is o.k, however the cross dissolved parts of the underline clips are unaffected by the above adjustment layer at the same rate as the dissolve. IE, the move dissolved, the less effect from the adjustment layer above.

Any Ideas?
